Ep 2: Tech Guru
There’s a complicated relationship between hippies and technology these days.
We’re all learning that it’s important to spend less time with our phones, but addiction is real. I’m addicted, especially to Instagram.
But I’m not really on Facebook, which is helpful. I use the Newsfeed Eradicator on my laptop and I don’t have the app on my phone.
As an entrepreneur, I’m afraid I’ll be penalized for this… for taking care of my mental health by escaping this platform.
See… it’s complicated.

I’m aware of it and doing my best to still engage in groups because I really do love to support people with technology.
In my business, I help people with online marketing technology. I teach them how to use their website, email newsletter, social media, video, and all the techie things related to having an online business.
Lately, I get most of my clients from referrals, partnerships, and my email list. People who know my work are happy with it because I give off a calm, positive, confident vibe around tech. Maybe that’s the hippie side.
I’m a generalist, a true teacher of all things related to technology and marketing
Website design in both Squarespace and Wordpress
Copy writing
Tech integrations
Email sequences
Video production and editing
Social media marketing
Strategy for content creation
How to get clients
Client onboarding processes
Opt-in gifts and the welcome sequence that follows
My approach is to keep it simple so it’s doable. Even if you hire a virtual assistant, you’ll know how your stuff works.
I do it through 1:1 work and live workshops because courses become outdated so quickly as technology updates.
It’s unique. I created this concept myself, at the request of my clients
Tech Guru Tips
Buy refurbished devices. They’ve often been repaired and include a good warranty
And get the Pela Case for your device. It’s made from plants but super strong and compostable!
Use the Newsfeed Eradicator (Chrome | Firefox) to get rid of the Facebook newsfeed on your computer. You’ll still have access to Groups, Messenger, and your wall
No phones in bed or while eating (I didn’t mention this on the episode but it’s a rule I have for good boundaries)
Am I optimistic about climate change and sustainability?
In this area, yes. Technology allows us to be paperless and we can access and connect to the world without physically traveling.
There’s also a lot of technology and innovation that helps combat existing pollution and prevent future pollution. These things give me hope.
