Ep 3: Conscious Traveling
My friend Tasci has been traveling since she was 14 and she leaves a light footprint wherever she goes. She shares some fantastic tips with us about how to have an incredible experience, meet new people, and travel ethically.
She’s also more optimistic about the future than I am, with good reason.
Listen now
She never feels like she’s missing out on the travel experience by being conscious of the environment and that’s what I love the most. There’s no sacrifice in this lifestyle.
Tasci’s Ethical Travel Tips
Bring reusable food containers
Always carry a water bottle
Pack smart so your luggage doesn’t weigh so much. Heavy luggage impacts emissions. Tasci suggests leggings, a skirt, and a few shirts.
Visit foreign grocery stores
Eat locally. If the restaurant is full and the menu isn’t in English, it’s going to be good!
Buy locally-made souvenirs
Find the English bookstore wherever you go, and talk to the owner
Our favorite water bottle
We love this collapsible water bottle. It folds up nicely in your bag and you can refill it at restaurants or drinking fountains when you’re traveling.
I think Tasci and I have one in every color.
Is Tasci optimistic?
“What humans do best is save themselves at the last minute.”
What do you think? Will we save ourselves or is it too late? Make sure you listen to Tasci’s reason to be hopeful for the future of sustainability and climate change.
