Ep 9: Mining! and Green Elbows
Let’s talk about mining, yes, mining! Today’s guest works for an organization that helps certify responsible sourcing of raw materials, aka mining. It is such admirable and necessary work. I learned a lot about mining and how important it is to get it right.
She also created her own company called Green Elbows, which helps bring green into everyday life by removing intimidation about plants. We’re going to talk about plant parenthood, fails, and what plants can teach us about life.
Making an impact, big or scale, Becky Burton is doing it all.

P.S. I want more guests in these fields! Cars, trash and recycling, materials production, city planning. Let’s get into it!
How do you become a good plant parent? Becky said it so perfectly,
"If you bring presentness and consciousness to taking care of plants, that's how you're good at taking care of them."
Becky’s Plant Tips
Test the soil with your finger before watering it.
If a plant dies, it doesn’t mean you’re bad at plants. Learn something and try again.
Succulents like a lot of sun and not much water.
Every plant is different, so sit with your plant, learn from it, and give it what it needs.
Is Becky optimistic?
Two organizations make her optimistic. One is the Half Earth Project and the other is Rewilding. Very cool!
But we also wondered together if people care enough to take action. We’ll see.
